Dr Seda Koçyiğit

Dr. Seda Koçyiğit is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. She graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry, completed her specialty training at Ondokuz Mayıs University and earned her PhD (Doctor of Science) with a doctoral thesis. She worked as a faculty member and assistant dean at a foundation university, and then as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon at the Ministry of Health. Today she works at her own clinic in Ataşehir, Istanbul.

Her clinical focus is jaw surgery and implantology: impacted teeth and jaw cysts, dental implants and implants where bone is insufficient, orthognathic surgery and jaw joint disorders.

After teeth are lost at the back of the upper jaw, the sinus can expand downwards and there may be no bone left to place an implant. In that case, a sinus lift raises the floor of the sinus and the space created is filled with a bone graft.
